At Sierra Outdoor Center we are dedicated to making the world of river running available to everyone. One way we accomplish this is by offering students a wide selection of rafts for instruction: from Pumas to Catarafts.

  General Information

   Classes start at approximately 9 am and finish around 6 pm. All river equipment except wetsuits and transportation to and from the river are included in the price. Farmer john wetsuits are available for rental for an additional $10. Students must bring their own lunch and water.

  Cataraft Play Clinic

   Learn the latest surfing and hole riding techniques in these versatile and high performance inflatable craft from the "Catman" Neil Nikirk. Taught on the South Fork American. Must have Class III rowing skills. Price: $99.

  Private Lessons

   For an intensive, one-on-one, all-day season, you can have a private instructor to maximize your time and energy on the water. All the information and guidance you can handle! Price: $180.

  River Safety & Rescue

   This 3-day comprehensive course is designed for paddlers interested in learning basic river rescue techniques. Learn to use and set up basic rescue equipment such as z-drags and zip lines. Also learn how to set up technical rope systems, control in-water rescues, as well as develop your own self-rescue skills. Taught by a certified Rescue 3 instructor. Price: $260.
